Byzantine pomegranates
We discovered these pomegranates in Istanbul's huge souk. They are handmade by Afghan jewelers who have taken refuge in Turkey. Their jewelry uses the motif of this fruit which, since ancient times in Persia, Byzantium, and throughout the Orient, has symbolized prosperity, fertility, and wisdom.

The pendant is sold with the pearl necklace.
