Medina Mojo necklaces, created by Valerie Barkowski, evoke the amulets produced in archaic times when they served as symbols of ornamentation and represented the wearer's status. 
They were made from natural materials such as shells, bones, teeth, and stones.
The designer created them with her collection of small objects gleaned from her travels.
