Description
Bohemian glass carafe
Teruska creates and reproduces glass, based on 16th and 17th-century shapes and designs, in partnership with artisan glassblowers from the Czech Republic. This glass was also called "Waldglas" or "Forest Glass." The glass houses or Hütten where they were blown at the time were located in the forests of northern Europe. The wood from the trees fueled the kilns where the material was melted. Glassblowing is still a very laborious process, often requiring two people to make a single piece of glass. One blows the glass, while the other applies the decoration. To give the glass its historical appearance, a special technique is required, which only a true artisan can master. Production is therefore low: 40 to 50 glasses per day. The art of glassblowing has been passed down from father to son for generations, and each family has its own secrets.
