Description
The Barbotine workshop was founded 40 years ago and was recently taken over by two young pottery enthusiasts from Aubagne. They remain faithful to the spirit of the founder, Philippe Beltrando, and perpetuate the expertise and quality of traditional Provençal pottery. Each piece, whether a tian, daubière, or poumié,  has a specific function in Provençal cuisine.
There are many recipes for daube (beef, lamb, octopus...) but there is only one daubière: the one from Barbotine. A Provençal potter’s daubière, hand-thrown in refractory clay in the traditional shape: a bulbous body to cook a family feast or feed a group of friends; a hollow lid to hold a little water, which, by cooling the steam inside, preserves and concentrates the flavors throughout the oven-cooking process. The perfect vessel for all your braised dishes, a must-have for Provençal cuisine!
